What is Royalty Free Music?
Royalty Free Music is a type of Stock Music, Library
Music, or Production Music. But, Royalty Free Music
differs from other library, stock and production music because it is
licensed music for a single fee, without the need to pay any future
royalty. It is also sometimes called Buyout Music.
There are many projects for which background music must legally be
licensed, such as music for video, music for podcasts, music for
websites, flash, powerpoint presentation, tradeshows, video
tutorials, DVD, CD-ROM, TV, film, radio, multimedia production,
in-house corporate video, etc. But the traditional payment structure
(in which a royalty is charged for each background music usage) would
be impractical or too costly for the budget. Not licensing background
music for your project can result in costly legal fees for copyright
infringement.
